Monday: 9 am Start 6pm Finish. Back in to the print studio to etch my plates get aquatint done.
First to images of slide show so prints before and after aquatint, as you can see it came out very dark. so i tried adding lots of extender to the ink and did another print, it was still very dark but not as bad. So i scraped back at the plate carefully, not scraping back to far and making it too light in areas. by the end of the day i had one plate how i liked it. And Wednesday i would come in to do the other plate.
Tuesday: Into the painting studio, brought in my work from over Easter to show June in tomorrows tutorial. Had a rummage through some of my old work from the semester and took part of it home as the studio had to be emptied by Friday it was easier for me to take home in dribs and drabs rather than all in one.
Wednesday: Back in the printing room, applying an aquatint to my other plate. and getting part of it etched. Then tutorial with June, She looks at my paintings from holiday and studies, we talk and she helps me resolve some of the issues from my larger painting of Spain. insists i by a glazing medium and burnt sienna paint to help warm the painting up in the foreground. I take my painting home, buy some paint and re paint a lot of the painting, correcting parts ready for group crit tomorrow.
Thursday: Group crit, Was lovely to see the work that everyone else had been up to over the Easter break, and see there opinions on my painting, Which still needs a bit of tweaking. I then took some of my large paintings home and called it a day.
Friday: Printing studio, all day, etching my aquatint on plate, removing ground... scrubbing for almost two hours. Printing. more printing. then Cleaning.
What a week.
