I09.00 A very nostalgic start to the week, looking back at old photos and remembering the good old days! - as they say. Seeing all the old cars, holidays, clothes, pets... makes you see all the fun you've had. I always find it strange seeing pictures of myself younger, as although it brings back memories you see things you have no recollection of - Unlike this one above. I remember it very well, painting in my grandads studio, my Grandad has always been and still is the biggest inspiration for me in art, I can only wish that one day I could as be as good as him. At 11 years a go, this painting is one of the first paintings that I can still remember doing and I enjoyed it so much - something I'd never dream of doing now.. A Still life! With help from my grandad of course- I was only 9. He drew it out and Left me to paint it. Probably the most proud I've ever been after finishing a painting, Now I look at all the problems with my work, but i guess that's good, I know I'm not the best yet, but there's constantly room for improvement.

Comparing to my first commission a few years back, I've not changed that much!

Anyway back to Uni, A rainy walk up to uni. Throughout the whole day I've been printing and getting covered in ink. Classic Monday.
I decided to add an aquatint to a copper plate bird drawing, not taken a picture as of yet, tomorrow I will print some more of them. It worked a lot better than my attempt of spit bite aquatint on the aluminum one below. I etched the copper plate and 4 different tones stopping out different areas to make variation in tone to the image, it was a long drawn process but I enjoyed the wait of seeing what it would look like once printed.  I also got round to printing my lithography stones, I was very pleased with the result, and am excited to see what else i can do with the stone tomorrow.

The spotty effect from the coffee, and blotchy 'etchedness' but it does have a weird psychedelic look to it which is quite interesting..

17.00 time for a bit of sketchbook work and relax after a day of uni. Working out some ideas of what to do tomorrow, So far a better start to the week than last- let's hope it continues...
