Monday: Half way through the semester and autumn feels like it’s finally here. My Favourite time of the year when the clouds are low, crunchy leaves on the ground and beautiful colours all around!- Lots if inspiration for painting.
Heading up to the studio to order a canvas- as we are approaching mid way point in this semester it is about time I think I finished a piece. Finding my subject matter has been difficult but I think for now I am sticking wih the clouds and waves- and can see where this heads. I guess it’s not about what I’m doing right now it’s where I’m heading and to kee that looking bright keeps me motivated.
study of the sky-
Not a finished composition or idea and is a work in progress. But from observation and studying the sky’s I think I’m learning!
During this week I’ve also decided not to look at any artists just for the time being as I feel that I’m stuck in a rut where I don’t know what I want from my painting and I don’t have that initial plan at the beginning which ends up
Leaving a confused painting. Also I have been looking at so many artists that it makes you feel
Like you should be like then. When what’s the point when they already have done it? However I can learn from them. This. Is not me saying that artists do not inspire me- just for this week I have avoided looking at any other people’s work so that I can focus on my own and try and solve some of my problems myself.
I have also been looking at different mediums and the effects they can have on paint to help bring these effects together in to one painting.
This painting below was influenced by waves and clouds and I used flow medium liquitex. I feel this eff ct can show paint in a different way entirely and I’m looking forward to where I can include this in my larger finished work.
With the research on clouds and sky I have been doing this week i feel a lot more confident and excited about where I can take my work and looking forward for what’s to come!
